January Faves

So about January, it's been a bit miserable hasn't it. From freezing temperatures, pea soup fog and gale force winds it's been rough for a lot of people including our neighbours who had a tree fall on top of their house one night when it was particularly windy.

So whilst we celebrate January finally being over I'm going to take a look back at some of my favourites of this month (shock horror, she hasn't done this in like forever)

Youth is Only Ever Fun In Retrospect- Sundara Karma

January 6th is Twelfth Night aka the day that the three Kings or Wise Men came to Bethlehem with presents.

This year Sundara Karma also came bearing gifts but instead of the traditional gold, frankincense and myrrh they gave something a lot more worth waiting for; their debut album.

It's an absolute belter of a record and includes some of my absolute faves such as 'Young Understanding' and 'She Said' which are perfect for dancing around my room to and singing into a hairbrush. You can read my review here if you wanted to.

Hemp Hand Protector

I've been doing an awful lot of knitting this month (I'm making a shawl if anyone was wondering) yet one of the things they don't tell you about knitting is how incredibly dry your hands get. I think it has something to do with the constant contact with the dry wool.

This phenomenon is only elevated by the constant chill factor and cold weather which can cause dry skin. Suffice it to say that my hands are very dry with cracked skin to knuckles yada yada yada.

Ok cool we get it, you have dry hands, get on with the story.

I have a lot of hand cream, like seriously buckets full yet very few of these seem to actually work very well and I dreaded to think that my hands were beyond the point of no return. The Body Shop have the answer (of course they do, The Body Shop always have the answer) in their hemp hand protector.

The hemp range includes deeply nourishing moisturisers such as the hand protector which is ideal for people with very dry skin (hands up if this is you)

I slather my hands with this thick cream just before going to bed and then put on a pair of white gloves. This helps to retain the cream to my hands and means that most if not all the moisturiser is absorbed into my skin.

Invariably I will wake up with gorgeously soft hands to start my knit-a-thon a new.

Covet Fashion

Ok I'll admit it I'm a coveter.

For those of you who don't know Covet is a 'dress up' game app which allows you buy and wear real life clothes and style your avatar according to different challenges. There are competitions and such like involved too and for 'girly girls' like myself its rather fun actually.

A recent update to the app means that rather than dressing a standard model the game includes women of every size and shape which I think not only makes the experience all the more realistic but also more interesting.
